Walking to Palmer Commons

Circumnavigating campus:
Come out of the hotel, turn left, walk along E Huron St for about a half mile, crossing State St, N Thayer St, N Ingalls St and Glen Ave, ending at Zina Pitcher Place. Turn left and use the pedestrian bridge to cross Washtenaw Ave and reach the main entrance of the Palmer Commons Building . Note Huron St becomes Washtenaw Ave at Zina Pitcher. Take the elevator to the fourth floor. Turn right coming out of the elevator and follow the hall to the Great Lakes Room.

Alternate route, for the more adventurous:
Come out of the hotel, turn left, then take State St south, cross E Huron St and walk a block, turning left onto E Washington St at the construction site (a new dormitory and future home of the School of Information). Continue east on Washington past Rackham Auditorium and Ingalls Mall and cross Fletcher St. Continue on the left-hand sidewalk up the parking ramp next to the glass-and-cement-faced Power Center and follow the serpentine walking path around the parking deck, past the Undergraduate Science Building and bear left to the south entrance of Palmer Commons. Take the elevator to the fourth floor; turn left coming out of the elevator and left again to the Great Lakes Room.

Driving directions:
Exit the Campus Inn parking lot at the gate, turn right onto State Street and an immediate left onto E Huron. Follow Huron around the bend at Zina Pitcher place and under the pedestrian walkway, where Huron St becomes Washtenaw Ave and turn right off Washtenaw onto Palmer Drive. At the end of the drive, turn left into the guest parking structure. Parking costs are $1.10 per hour. Walk back along Palmer Dr to the south entrance of the Palmer Commons building (marked with a Public Safety sign in the window), enter the building, turn left and take the elevator to the fourth floor; turn left coming out of the elevator and left again to the Great Lakes Room.
