Logistics

Good afternoon all,

Here is the final round of information for the September 2001 CSG
Workshops and Meeting to be held September 12th through 14th, 2001
at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.


Conference Hotel (please see the update below):
The hotel is The Silver Cloud Inn.  They can be reached at 1.800.205.6940
(see http://www.scinns.com/universi.htm).  They have reserved a block 
of 50 rooms for us for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. 
PLEASE HAVE YOUR RESERVATION IN BY THE CUTOFF DATE OF August 11, 
2001.  The rooms are at the discount rate of $94.00 per night for 
single or double occupancy.

If you wish to stay for the weekend they will extend the rate (on a 
first come/first serve basis) if you ask when you make your 
reservation.  Check-in time is 3pm check-out time is 12 noon.

Guest rooms reserved for the Common Solutions Group will be held until
August 11, 2001.  Any reservations not booked by this date will be on
a first-come, first-served basis at the best available rate.

Updated 30 August:
The hotel has no more space available.  I have found 3 hotels near the
campus (all within a 10-15 minute drive) that have available space as
of today:

If you need a room please make your reservation ASAP.

CSG does not provide transportation to and from hotels other than
the conference hotel.  If driving to campus, please refer to the
"Directions to South Campus Center coming from the south via I-5
North" below, modifying as necessary.


Nearest Airport:
The nearest airport is the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport 
(SEATAC), please see http://www.portseattle.org/seatac/default.htm, 
about 45 minutes from the hotel.


Airport Transportation:
Please see http://www.quickaid.com/airports/sea/mainmenu.html for car 
rental, taxi, shuttle and other information.

Additional logistical information will be available at the meeting
regarding transportation back to the airport on Friday morning.


Directions to South Campus Center coming from the south via I-5 North:
-From SeaTac Airport get onto N EXIT DR. Follow signs to all freeways.
-Take the WA-518 EAST ramp towards SEATTLE(I-5)/TACOMA/(I-405).
-Take the I-5 NORTH exit on the left towards SEATTLE.
-Merge onto I-5 North.
-Drive through downtown Seattle and look for Exit 169 to NE 45th/50th
  Street.
-Take the 1st exit to NE 45th Street and turn right (East) on NE
  45th Street.
-Continue east about 4/10 of a mile to 15th Avenue NE and turn
  right (south).
-Head south approximately 7 blocks crossing the NE Pacific Street
  intersection.
-At the bottom of 15th Avenue NE bear left onto NE Boat Street.
-Travel a short distance on Boat Street onto Columbia Road.
-The campus gatehouse (Gate #6) will be straight ahead. Continue to
  Gate #6 and stop there for directions and a parking permit.
 BE SURE TO MENTION THAT YOU ARE ATTENDING THE COMMON SOLUTIONS GROUP
 MEETING IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A PREPAID PARKING PERMIT.


Directions from SEATAC Airport to Silver Cloud Inn via WA-520:
-From SeaTac Airport get onto N EXIT DR. Follow signs to all freeways.
-Take the WA-518 EAST ramp towards SEATTLE(I-5)/TACOMA/(I-405).
-Take the I-5 NORTH exit on the left towards SEATTLE.
-Merge onto I-5 North.
-Drive through downtown Seattle and look for Exit 168-B to Highway WA-520
  to BELLEVUE/KIRKLAND.
-Merge onto WA-520 East.
-Go a 1/4 mile and take the MONTLAKE BLVD. exit.
-Turn LEFT onto MONTLAKE BLVD E. and head North.
-Cross a drawbridge and pass Husky Stadium on your right.
-Three-tenths of a mile beyond Husky Stadium at the split in the road,
  turn SLIGHT LEFT onto 25TH AVE NE.
-5 blocks ahead on your right is the Silver Cloud Inn on the corner of
  50th St. NE and 25th Avenue NE -- 5036 25th Avenue NE.


Directions from SEATAC Airport to Silver Cloud Inn via ne 45th Street:
-From SeaTac Airport get onto N EXIT DR. Follow signs to all freeways.
-Take the WA-518 EAST ramp towards SEATTLE(I-5)/TACOMA/(I-405).
-Take the I-5 NORTH exit on the left towards SEATTLE.
-Merge onto I-5 North.

-Follow 45th Street East, past the University of Washington and down the

-Exit the viaduct at the ramp (which is unmarked) just before the

  Montlake Boulevard South.
-Immediately after getting on Montlake Blvd., make the next right turn,
  and make another immediat right at the signal light onto 25th Avenue NE.
-5 blocks ahead on your right is the Silver Cloud Inn on the corner of
  50th St. NE and 25th Avenue NE -- 5036 25th Avenue NE.


Directions from Silver Cloud Inn to South Campus Center:
-Head south on 15th avenue NE (left from hotel parking lot).
-15th Avenue NE will turn into Montlake Boulevard after you pass
  the shopping center University Village.
-Make a right onto NE Pacific Street.
-Make a left at 15th Avenue NE.
-At the bottom of 15th Avenue NE bear left onto NE Boat Street.
-Travel a short distance on Boat Street onto Columbia Road.
-The campus gatehouse (Gate #6) will be straight ahead.
-Continue to Gate #6 and stop there for directions and a parking permit.

Conference Venue:
The meeting will be held in Room 316 of the South Campus Center on 
the University of Washington campus.  Please see

for a building floor plan.

Due to construction, members will be dropped off on campus a bit further
than usual from the South Campus Center building.  Arrangements have been
made to have someone meet the buses and direct members to the correct
entrance.  Once inside the entrance, a sign will direct members to
the registration desk.

Registration will be located in the Foyer outside Room 316 of the
South Campus Center (between Room 316 and the newsstand).  Messages
for attendees may be left at 206-543-4934.  Wired and wireless networking
will be available in the meeting room.


Conference Meals:
Continental breakfast and break services will be provided for all three
days in the Foyer outside Room 316 of the South Campus Center.  Group
lunches and dinners will be provided on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Wednesday, lunch will be served in Room 342, with seating available in
Rooms 316, 346, and the Crow's Nest; on Thursday, lunch will be served in
Rooms 342/350.  Box lunches will be provided at the close of the CSG
meeting on Friday, in the Foyer outside Room 316, with seating available
in Rooms 316, 346/350, and the Crow's Nest.
